When we’re looking to bring a hamster into our lives, the first thing we tend to think about is what sort of cage would be best for them or what food they need to eat, but one of the most crucial welfare aspects in keeping hamsters is much simpler:

🐹 How many hamsters should I bring home? 🐹

Unlike other small furries, like rabbits or guinea pigs, hamsters prefer to be housed alone most of the time, and fights will break out otherwise!

Syrian hamsters are exclusively lone pets and in no circumstances should they be housed together as adults. Dwarf hamsters might not mind friends, but it’s best to avoid grouping males together as they have a tendency to fight.

If you’re considering to purchase or adopt a hammie, do all proper research first and don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help!
